So, what’s going on in June?
Well, on June 7, at the 9:15 a.m. service, Trinity with other diocesan communities will honor the 125th anniversary of the Diocese of West Missouri. Trinity will honor this special Sunday with a special Litany that was written and will be recited as the Prayers of the People. June 3, 1890, was the date where members gathered in the “primary Convention” to elect Bishop Edward Atwill, first bishop of our diocese.
Bishop Field has asked that a “truncated version of the sermon from the opening service of that first convention” by the Rev. J. J. Wilkins, Rector of Calvary Episcopal Church, Sedalia, be made available to any who might be interested in reading the opening sermon. Copies will be available in the Parish Hall for you to take home. We’ll have a special cake to celebrate this special day, and I hope you’ll join with me and one another as we celebrate 125th years of the diocese’s existence in the national Episcopal Church of the United States.
Check out our calendar for other activities taking place at Trinity!
Take care – Russ+
