New to Scouting or want to join?
Boy Scouting is for boys who are 11, or are at least 10 years old and have completed the fifth grade or have earned the Cub Scout Arrow of Light Award, through 17 years old. Boys experience a vigorous outdoor program and peer group leadership with the counsel of an adult Scoutmaster to achieve the BSA’s objectives of developing character, citizenship, and personal fitness. Our troop does activities like camping, backpacking, rifle shooting, rappelling, swimming, and more!
Boy Scout Troop 282 is looking for boys with sense of adventure and fun to join us. Meetings are held on a regular basis, all year long, on Monday evenings from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m in the basement of Trinity Episcopal Church. Regular attendance is expected for all boys who join our troop. In the event school is cancelled due to inclement weather, scout meetings are also cancelled. Parents are expected to arrange transportation for their scouts to and from meetings. A calendar listing monthly troop activities and local scout activities is distributed regularly and updated as changes occur.
A typical meeting includes the following:
- Pre-meeting Scout Game
- Opening and Announcements
- Scout Board of Reviews, Scoutmaster Conferences
- Patrol Planning Meetings
- Activities such as Scout Skills or Merit Badge work
- Scoutmaster’s Minute and Closing
