History
Boy Scout
Troop 282 was founded by J.D. Hammontree in 1948. Mr. Hammontree set the
standards for Troop operation. He recognized it is a boy's program.
His plan was to teach them to lead and let them lead. Today the troop is still
guided by his wisdom.
Scout
Troop 282 has an outstanding history of achievements and recognitions in all
phases of Scouting. To date 115 young men have attained the rank of Eagle Scout.
The Scout
Troop has an enviable record of stability in Adult Leadership. During the
57 year history of this Scout Troop, there have been only three Scoutmasters:
J.D. Hammontree from 1948 to
1969
Bob Morris from 1969 to
1984

Scott
Howell from 1984 to present.
Meetings
Scout Troop meets every Monday from 7:30 to 9:00
P.M.
Junior Leader Training is held on Tuesday twice a month
from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M.
Troop Committee meets once a month on the last Thursday
from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M.
Activities
In addition to monthly camping activities, High
Adventure canoe trips to the Boundary Waters between the United States and
Canada and winter ski trips to Colorado are scheduled yearly.
